A Guide to Making Your Home Smarter

The following contribution is from another author.

Perhaps you’ve considered making your home smarter for a while. The great thing about making your home smarter is that you can make it more convenient to live in without spending too much time or money. However, you do need to consider a few things first. Would you like to install an entire smart unit so that you can transform your home all at once, or would you prefer to take a slower approach to the whole thing? Below, we’ll talk about a few of the components you may want to consider and how they can help you.

Smart Lighting

Smart lighting is usually a great entrypoint for people who want to create their very own smart home. These systems often do not need a central hub, but can still interact with your other smart home elements. Some can sync up with a smart home app so you can control the lighting of your place even when you’re not home, helping to amp up the security and give you peace of mind.

Smart Speakers

The Amazon Echo is one of the smartest and most popular speakers out there. You can even link it up to dim the lights for you if you’re having a movie night! The Google version is a good option to, and both can serve as a central interaction point for everything from smart lights to home security cameras.

Smart Thermostats

Smart thermostats are a brilliant addition for comfort and energy savings. They help to establish a better heating/cooling schedule, so you can anticipate when you’re going to be home and ensure that it is the perfect temperature. The one thing a smart thermostat can’t do is book your AC Repair for you, although we wouldn’t put it past them for the future.

Home Security Cameras

A home security camera is a wonderful addition for peace of mind. You can keep your eye on kids and pets when you’re not there, and they serve as a great deterrent for crime. Some models will even have lights that can illuminate the outside of your home when you return. Many of them can also allow you to monitor your front door/porch so you interact with visitors without even needing to go to the door, or be at home! This means you will know exactly who has visited when you’ve been at work or out running errands. A huge help.

A Multi Room Audio System

Multi room audio systems allow you to stream music in every room. You can keep them all in sync, or play different things in each one. They can be great for get togethers and parties, or even when you’re just doing the cleaning. Sonos are a good option to begin looking at, but there are many choices out there that could suit you.
