Important Things to Remember When Adding a Pool to Your House

Having your very own swimming pool at home designed by a skilled pool contractor is a dream for a lot of people. It’s the ultimate luxury addition to your home which adds a lot of value, and it’s a great way to beat the summer heat if it’s all getting a bit too much for you. Not to mention it’s a good way to exercise regularly and stay healthy. But a lot of people think that they’re never going to be able to build a pool in their house because you have to be super rich. It’s true that it’s expensive but it’s not actually as unrealistic as you might think. It will cost you around $20,000 which is a lot but it’s not as much as people think. If you like the idea of building your own pool, here are a few tips you should know.

Keep The Design Simple

A simple rectangular pool with a level bottom is the best design to go for. You might be thinking that’s pretty boring and you had grand plans for a horseshoe shaped pool with deep sections and a big water feature in the center. You can do that if you like, but the cost is soon going to spiral out of control. All of those extra features make the pool much harder to build and so they’ll cost you a lot more. If you have the money to spare that’s fine but if you’re trying to keep costs down, the design needs to be as simple as possible.

Think About Security

If you’ve got a pool in your garden, your home is going to be a more attractive prospect for potential burglars. They’ll assume that you’ve got a bit of money and there is likely to be more valuables in the house, which is why security is very important. You don’t want to make the pool area an entry point so you’ll need to install a good quality iron pool fence to make sure that it’s secured. If you have young children, you may also want to consider installing barriers around the actual pool itself so they can’t fall in.

Use A Black Lining

Black lining might not be the most attractive color for a pool lining but it will save you a lot of money in the future. Heating the pool takes a lot of energy and it can be incredibly expensive. However, black is great at absorbing and retaining heat which means that it will take in a lot of heat naturally and you won’t have to spend anywhere near as much on heating the pool, especially during the summer months when the weather is hot.

Use A Borehole Or Well

If you have a borehole or well on the property that you can get water out of, you should use this to fill the pool. If you fill it from the water mains, your water bills is going to be incredibly high. It’s far more cost effective to use natural water to fill the pool if that’s a possibility.

These simple tips should help you to keep the costs down and avoid any major problems while you’re building your pool. For more ideas, check out pool builder in Orange County CA online.
