Easy Ways to Freshen Up the Front of Your Property

Easy Ways to Freshen Up the Front of Your Property

The following contribution is from another author.

The front of your property is seen every day by yourself and everyone walking past. Over time it can start to look a little tired and in need of an update. Making a change to the front of your house doesn’t have to be expensive. In fact, there are several things that you can do that will make a big difference. Why not consider respraying your driveway, adding planting, or adding lighting to your driveway. To help you with some ideas, below we have put a guide of five things you can do to your driveway to make a change.

Respray Your Driveway

As you approach your front door, do you have a concrete driveway that people have to walk on first? Driveways tend to get damaged over the winter months, causing dirt and moss to grow in between the cracks, as well as the flooring change color. A quick way to freshen up the front of your property is to use a pressure washer to go over the bricks. Once gone over you will be surprised how different it will look and how new the front of your house will look. If you don’t own a pressure washer you could use a professional company like activate pressure washing to come in and do it for you.

Replace Your Front Door

You’ll be amazed at how much changing your front door can make to the difference of the front of your property. If you haven’t changed your front door in a long time, then you may find that it’s starting to look tired and worn down. By replacing it with a completely different color, you’ll instantly have a new look and everyone that visits will notice it as well. If you aren’t sure what color to change it to, then take a look at Pinterest for some inspiration. Instead of changing the color completely, a different style of door in the same color will also make a big difference. You can replace your regular door for other types of doors, like french doors or bifold sliding doors, for example, and in addition to a slim and contemporary look, you will probably increase your security.

Add Planting To your Front Of Your Property

Plants are a great way to add color as well as change the way your property looks. There are a whole variety of plants that you could choose from, ranging in size and color. Some will last better during the winter months whilst others may not last at long but could be cheaper. Depending on how the exterior is set out, you can plant these in your front lawn, if you don’t have a lawn you could pot them and place them on the driveway next to your doors.

Lighting

There are many benefits to adding lighting to the exterior of your house. One, they can be used as a deterrent and put potential intruders off. Two, they add a new level of dynamics to your property. Three, when you approach your property in the dark they will light up your bath. Lighting doesn’t have to be expensive and can easily be installed, some options are even solar-powered reducing your electricity usage (You can find out more about solar panel cost here). You can also get smart lights, similar to the ones you use in your home, and control them through an app on your phone.

Repaint Your Fences

As with the flooring in the front of your property, your fencing will also get worn down over time. Instead of replacing them or leaving them how they are, why not purchase some fence paint and give them a respray? You could purchase a new color and change the look of them completely. Fence paint isn’t expensive and is easy to apply yourself. By touching them up, you can return them to their original “new” look and have your driveway looking as good as new. If you aren’t sure about changing the color, you can purchase sample paint and spray a small part of the fence to see if you like it.

Overall, there are many ways in which you can update the front of your property. Depending on your budget, start with the thing that will make the biggest difference and then make more changes as the months go on. Many of the things above can be done by yourself but if you think you may struggle, then you can always ask your friends or family members to help.

What changes are you planning on making to the front of your property? Will you be making any of the above changes? Have we missed any changes that you think others should consider? Let us know in the comment box below, we would love to hear from you.
