Four Ways to Upgrade Your Lounge

Four Ways to Upgrade Your Lounge

The following contribution is from another author.

When people ask you where you would upgrade in your home, where do you tell them? If the kitchen or bathrooms have popped into your head first, you’re not alone. It’s the first place that most people think to upgrade when they have the chance to make change in their home, but really? The lounge is the first place I think about. When you walk into the house and relax, where do you go? It’s the lounge. When you kick back and watch Netflix, is it in the kitchen? No – it’s the lounge. The lounge is the best place in the house to relax, which is why you should upgrade here first!

We spend an awful lot of time in the lounge and so it stands to reason that you would want it to look beautiful. We entertain here, and we make sure that the “living” room is lived in – and it’s why wear and tear occurs here first! Upgrading the space doesn’t always mean that you need to think about ripping everything out and starting again. You could change the sofas for modern leather sectionals instead. You could get the bookcases out of there and start thinking about open floating shelves instead to save floor space. There are so many ways that you can make changes to your lounge, and we’ve got four below for you to check out and try today!

A Lick Of Paint

It’s the cheapest way to completely makeover the space, but paint is a great option for upgrading the lounge! You can do it as many times as you want, and you can make the lounge as fresh as you want every single year. You can color coordinate the paint to the decor, and you don’t have to spend a long time doing it. There are plenty of options for painting, either DIY or call in the professionals. Either way, you are able to do so much more with paint than paper!

Bye, Bye, Carpets!

It’s traditional to have carpet in the lounge as it makes the space much more comfortable. Instead of carpets, you could rip them up and have a hardwood floor and rugs in place. This makes the room just as cosy, but you dramatically change the way that it looks. Flooring is important in such a used space in the home, so you want something that will be low maintenance to look after.

Look At The Lighting

Lighting is one of the most significant things that you can change in the house. You want the room to be a communal space, which means you could have lamps as well as overhead lights, fairy lights in the reading nook and spotlights along the floor for night times. It’s all about the atmosphere!

Lounge Accessories

Paintings and artwork, throws on the sofa and layered rugs all have a place in the lounge, as do decorative bookends, throw pillows and coffee tables of different heights. Add accessories to make your lounge a homely place to be.
