Tech to Help You Move

Tech to Help You Move

The following contribution is from another author.

Along with divorce, moving is said to be one of the most stressful things you can do. Especially if you aren’t just getting yourself from one place to another, but you’re also moving kids, pets, and uprooting an entire family home, there are plenty of associated stresses. Luckily,we live in the twenty-first century, and technology is on hand to help make the transition go as smoothly as possible. Here are some top tech choices to keep you safe and secure for the big move.

Safety First

There are a myriad of ways that technology can keep you safe. Of course, you should look at secure front doors straight from the source – a decidedly analog way in which to protect your home. But there’s no reason you can’t make additions to the security of your new home to give you peace of mind. This is especially important when you are moving to a place you don’t know very well – it will be difficult to say what usually comings and goings are, and what’s normal for your new area.

This might mean it’s a good time to invest in a doorbell cam. These are an excellent visual deterrent. Although unobtrusive, they are clearly there, and so anyone approaching your door with nefarious intent is likely to be put off by knowing they’re on camera. Did you know that a door cam can also lower your home insurance bill? If your insurers know you’ve gone the extra mile to protect your home, you’re likely to get excellent premiums. There are plenty of reasons a door cam is a technologically sound way to make you feel more secure in your new home.

Utility Switching

This can be one of the most painstaking parts of moving house – going through each and every bill and utility and making sure you’ve switched them all to your new address and haven’t left anything behind that you’re either paying for or will leave the new tenants paying for. One of the ways to help alleviate some of that additional stress and worry is to sign up to a comparison site. You’ll still have to manually change your address, but these sites that find you the cheapest deals will also amalgamate all of your utilities into one place, making it quick and easy to update your address.

Stay Organized

There are plenty of organizational apps available that will help you stay on top of your move. With so much to remember – switching schools for the kids, the movers, packing, starting a new routine (not to mention packing and unpacking) then it’s worth using every resource you have to keep on top of things. This is where your home technology can come in handy. Of course, you want to make sure you know what you’re getting, but there are so many different options available, to make your life easier, and more convenient. As long as you have an internet connection, devices like your Alexa will also keep your phone updated, so you will know what you’re doing wherever you are.
