Garage Updates That Will Add Value

Garage Updates That Will Add Value

When most of us think about improving our homes, we don’t often think about the garage, but it is as much a part of our property ad the yard or your home itself, so it deserves some attention. Not only that but upgrading your garage can actually add value to your property too!

With that in mind, here are some of the best garage upgrades to make:

Install an automatic door

If you still don’t have an automatic door, and you’re stuck with one of those old, heavy, hard to open manual ones, it’s time to upgrade. A Brand new aluminum electric garage door will make your daily life so much easier, and far more inviting for future buyers. If you want to improve curb appeal, choose a garage door in a color that matches the rest of your home, rather than sticking with boring old gray if that’s not your thing.

Install asphalt paving

If the area around your garage has seen better days, it doesn’t matter how many upgrades you make to the garage itself it will still look scruffy, which is where residential paving comes in. Have a new asphalt drive installed and it will instantly boost the appearance of your garage while adding value to your home.

Epoxy flooring

If your garage has a bare concrete floor, there is a good chance that it will end up seriously stained by oils and other spills. Before redoing your floors, you should consider making sure that any car oil leaks are taken care of with oil additives to stop leaks, and anything that generally spills is repositioned. Adding an epoxy flooring will minimize the chances of this happening, while also giving your garage floor a nice shine, and ensuring that it is really easy to clean. These days, epoxy flooring comes in a wide range of colors, so you can find a flooring solution that really suits your family’s taste.

Invest in storage shelving

If you’re one of those families who likes to store everything but the kitchen sink in your garage, you may want to do a little decluttering. For what’s left, it’s important that you invest in some high-quality garage shelving, which you can fix to the walls and ensure that all of your stuff is filed neatly away instead of taking up every spare inch of space. Wire shelves, of the heavy-duty type, are often the best for this because they take up little space themselves while being able to handle large loads of stuff with relative ease, which means you get a neater, more spacious garage with them.

Motion lighting

Motion detection lighting is great for the garage because it will come on itself as soon as you step into the garage space, and ensure that, what can often be a dark area of the property, is always safely illuminated when you need it to be. LED lights are ideal because they are very bright while not using too much power.

Add more outlets

The garage is a place where you can store the car, but it is also a place where you can do DIY, store your stuff, work on projects, and so on, which is why installing many more electrical outlets is a really good idea!

Your garage deserves some TLC, so what are you waiting for?
