5 2018 TV Shows You Need to See

This entertainment piece is a contribution from another author.

Do you need something new to watch at the minute? Ready for your next big TV binge? Well, you are in luck as 2018 has been a fantastic year for shows. Over the past few years, streaming services have really come into their own and many now even have the budgets to create their own shows. As a result, there are so many great TV shows coming onto our screens pretty much every month.

So, are you ready to get sucked in to some of 2018’s best shows so far? Here’s five great ones that you’ll be able to find on different streaming services.

Patrick Melrose

Adapted from the novels by Edward St Aubyn, Patrick Melrose was a mini-series that aired on Showtime earlier this year. It’s still available on Amazon Prime to stream with the Showtime pass. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular character and follows him as he battles some very dark demons. As usual, Cumberbatch’s performance is out of this world – there’s no wonder why he’s received an Emmy nod.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story

Do you remember how great The People Vs OJ Simpson was back in 2016? Well, if you loved that show, you will be very happy to hear that the second season of the American Crime Story series is here and this time it focuses on the murder of Gianni Versace. It has a very strong cast, including Penelope Cruz and Darren Criss, so you can already tell it will be well worth a watch.

Killing Eve

If you saw the 2016 comedy Fleabag, then you will already know how great a screenwriter and actor Phoebe Wallace-Bridge is. Well, she is back this year with something ever so slightly different. This time, she doesn’t appear in Killing Eve, she only wrote the script. And it’s not a comedy – for her second show, Wallace-Bridge has chosen to do a drama that is full of suspense and thrills. It’s definitely one to watch if you love being on the edge of your seat throughout a program!

Better Call Saul

Better Call Saul burst onto our screens in 2015 just two years after Breaking Bad (the show from which it was a spin-off) came to an end. Make sure you’re using one of the TV service providers that allows you to stream on Netflix to catch up with this show. Over the past three years, this spin-off has gripped audiences just as much as Breaking Bad, and 2018 sees its return for a fourth season. Bob Odenkirk plays the lovable Saul, and this season promises to see him slip even further into the dark world of corrupt lawyers.

Atlanta

Do you feel like you are in the mood for a comedy? If so, you should tune into FX’s Atlanta. Created by Donald Glover, who is known for his parts in other comedies (such as Community), Atlanta is all about some up and coming rappers based in the titular city. As well as being funny, it also spells out some very important messages and has plenty to say about American culture right now.

Happy viewing!
